How to Plan an Affordable European Interrailing Trip as a Student

Planning an affordable European adventure might seem overwhelming, but as a full-time student, interrailing is the perfect way to explore Europe’s vibrant cultures while sticking to a budget. In the summer of 2023, I embarked on a 5-week interrail journey visiting 11 cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, and Budapest. with five other friends all being full time students. With the right planning, this kind of trip is within reach for cost-conscious students!

Situation of the Market
The travel industry is saturated with high-priced trips and luxury experiences, but students need accessible and affordable options. Many students still opt for the classic “lads holiday,” but my blog helps break away from that norm, offering an alternative that mixes culture, nightlife, and adventure without breaking the bank.

Interrailing is ideal because it’s flexible, affordable, and allows you to experience multiple destinations within the one trip. Through resources like Hostelworld, Eurail, and FlixBus, I was able to plan an affordable route across Europe.

Maximizing Travel Tools
For accommodation, Hostelworld was a lifesaver. It offers a wide selection of budget-friendly hostels, and we often found group discounts! We also used the Eurail app to easily book trains across different countries, while FlixBus helped us travel between cities where trains were either expensive or unavailable. These apps made it simple to keep our itinerary flexible and save money on transportation and lodging.

Why Choose Interrailing?
Interrailing is a perfect way to mix culture and parties. From the cool street art in Berlin to the incredible nightlife in Budapest, this kind of trip offers a mix of experiences you won’t get from a typical holiday. Be proactive and break away from standard vacation plans—this is the ultimate way to see Europe.
